The Green Party of Seattle is happy to announced that we have endorsed elected Green, Sally Soriano for a second term on the Seattle School Board.
Sally is an accessible Director who values and practices participatory democracy. She talks through problems to find solutions with constituents and shows them how to navigate the decision-making process to achieve their goals. This approach assures that the people most affected by decisions have greater input in the process. Sally's efforts build a responsive and accountable school district that has the support of the families it serves.
Sally Soriano is a native Seattleite who grew up attending Seattle public schools — Alki, Madison and West Seattle. She then went on to the University of Washington, earned a B.A. in Education and did her student teaching at Lafayette Elementary in West Seattle. Sally later received an M.S. in Educational Sociology from the University of Wisconsin where she co-founded and taught in the Department of Community Education.
Her community based approach to problem solving comes from her unique work experience:
10 years teaching and designing curriculum
10 years in small business operations, including industrial safety and health
10 years in policy analysis and advocacy focused on fair trade, raising labor standards, and environmental sustainability
